Book fairs played in to a big part of why we opened the store. From the beginning, we wanted to be a community based business, and the close relationships with schools that we have gained through book fairs are a big part of that. With book fairs we move out into the community (and beyond) more than ever. We get to bring books and our enthusiasm about them into schools both near and far and help to raise money for libraries.
We held our first book fair at Central High School in November of 2011. We began by working with high schools because no other company offered high school fairs, and we wanted to fill that need, especially for schools in rural areas where students might not have easy access to a bookstore. With high school book fairs, we felt that we had found our niche, as major corporations already had a lock on many area middle and elementary school book fairs. But word of mouth about our fairs soon spread, and we started receiving requests for fairs at all grade levels.
Since then, our book fair business has grown tremendously. We now partner with over 40 schools to host book fairs each year, and we're continually receiving more requests.
Our book fairs operate as an extension of the store itself. We seek to provide a wide selection of books at our fairs with tons of different titles on hand as well as access to basically anything in print through our network of publishers and distributors. We keep a CHB rep on hand so that they can help you find exactly what you are looking for just as you would expect if you walked into the store.
We strive to make the CHB book fair experience a great one. We have years of bookselling experience behind us and that knowledge along with our desire to match just the right book to the right person makes a CHB fair a unique and personal experience!
