Incredible Things!

Facts, reference, and record books are some of our most popular in the kid's section. Many of them have similar text with graphics rotated out from year to year, but every once in a while I find a new one that I get excited about. This year that book is 13 1/2 Incredible Things You Need to Know about Everything! On each page spread you get thirteen facts on one topic and then the extra half fact that dispels or clarifies a common misconception.

Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast has long been one of my favorite stories. My fascination obviously started with the animated Disney film but I’ve nourished it with various retellings in both film and book form. If you can’t get enough of this story (and are anxiously awaiting the new film) here are a few stories you may enjoy. These run the gamut from straightforward film adaptation, to classic fairy tale, to role reversal retellings…there’s something for all fans here.

Can I Borrow Your Notes?

For every middle school kid who has ever whispered, “Hey—can I borrow your notes?” there is the Big Fat Notebook series, a fantastic study guide series created by the editors of the Brain Quest series of workbooks and flash cards. Each study guide is like getting to borrow the notebook of the best student in class, with highlighted key concepts, doodles that illuminate tricky ideas, mnemonics, and more. These books are just as fun as they are informative!
