We will be reading James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time for our nonfiction read this month! Originally published in 1963, The Fire Next Time was a call to dismantle the legacy of racism in the U.S. and a herald of the Civil Rights Movement. Fifty-seven years later, it is as urgent and vital a message as it has ever been. We hope you can join us on August 27th at 6pm on Zoom. Email Michelle at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to receive an invitiation to book club meetings!
"Basically the finest essay I’ve ever read. . . . Baldwin refused to hold anyone’s hand. He was both direct and beautiful all at once. He did not seem to write to convince you. He wrote beyond you.” --Ta-Nehisi Coates
