The CHB Read & Review Club is for educators and students who enjoy reading and would like to share the joy of reading with others through reviewing and recommending books. As a bookshop, we often receive special review copies of books in advance of their release dates so that we can review them. However, since we can only read so many books and we value the thoughts and opinions of other readers, CHB is recruiting educators and students to read and review advance reader copies (or arcs) of books that we receive, and we'll post their reviews on the Cavalier House Books website via the Read & Review Club Blog!
The Blind Wish by Amber Lough is the fantastic sequel to The Fire Wish. This novel was enjoyable because of how vividly the characters and their struggles were portrayed. Despite the fantasy elements found in the problems that the characters had to learn to deal with throughout the novel, the issues are issues that readers can relate to. During the fast-paced, fun adventures Zayele and Najwa discover a little bit more about who they are as people and find they can be more than they had ever hoped or imagined that they would ever be to the people in the human and jinn lands. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to get my hands on more literary pieces of art by Amber Lough. Lough has a beautiful and vivid writing style that drew me into the book from the first word. People that have read and enjoyed the first book of the Jinni Wars series, The Fire Wish, should absolutely continue reading the series with The Blind Wish. Also readers that enjoyed the Magyk series by Angie Sage and the Seraphina series by Rachel Hartman should enjoy this series greatly. These books have similar fantasy that is fun for readers of all ages.
