A Read & Review Club Review: I Text Dead People by Rose Cooper

The CHB Read & Review Club is for educators and students who enjoy reading and would like to share the joy of reading with others through reviewing and recommending books. As a bookshop, we often receive special review copies of books in advance of their release dates so that we can review them. However, since we can only read so many books and we value the thoughts and opinions of other readers, CHB is recruiting educators and students to read and review advance reader copies (or arcs) of books that we receive, and we'll post their reviews on the Cavalier House Books website via the Read & Review Club Blog!

Emily R. (12) is a Read & Review Club member, and she has written a review of I Text Dead People by Rose Cooper! Here's what she had to say about the book:

"I Text Dead People by Rose Cooper is about a girl named Annabel Craven who moves into a new house called the Mad Manor. On top of living in this new, creepy house, Anna is going to a new school. She was taking a short-cut through a cemetery to get to her new school when she finds a phone. The phone doesn’t work at first, but then she starts getting these mysterious texts—from dead people. Anna has to figure out how to stop these texts and make friends at the same time. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it! Rose Cooper did a great job at explaining everything in the book, and I felt as if I was right along-side Anna throughout the whole novel. I really loved the drawings that were at the beginning of each chapter; they helped me imagine the setting and what the characters were feeling. I felt every emotion that Anna was feeling—her joy, her sadness, and especially her anxiety. The ending was not what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. Rose Cooper did an amazing job with this book, and you will not be disappointed when you read it!"

Thanks to Emily for her review!
