A Read & Review Club Teacher Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

The CHB Read & Review Club is for educators and students who enjoy reading and would like to share the joy of reading with others through reviewing and recommending books. As a bookshop, we often receive special review copies of books in advance of their release dates so that we can review them. However, since we can only read so many books and we value the thoughts and opinions of other readers, CHB is recruiting educators and students to read and review advance reader copies (or arcs) of books that we receive, and we'll post their reviews on the Cavalier House Books website via the Read & Review Club Blog!

Sherry LaJaunie is a special education teacher at French Settlement Elementary. She enjoys children's literature and young adult books, particulary in the paranormal, dystopian, and historical fiction genres. She is a member of the Read & Review Educators Club, and she has written a review of Sarah J. Maas' new book, A Court of Thorns and Roses! Check out what she has to say about the book:

Sarah J. Maas has outdone herself with her new book, A Court of Thorns and Roses! This is my favorite one yet.  It starts with a strong female character – which I love – named Feyre. After she has killed a faery wolf, she is dragged to the land of the Fae as her punishment for killing the creature.  Feyre struggles with her hate for the Fae creatures but eventually succumbs to the charms of the high lord, Tamlin, who has taken her. As she comes into contact with dangerous Fae creatures from other courts and eavesdrops to find out what is going on to destroy the magic of Tamlin and all the Fae, she will face death to save her love and all of Fairy. This book has love, suspense, unexpected heroes, and more.  I could not put it down.  Tamlin and Fayre’s love just pulls you along on this adventure. There is some sexual content and violence, so I wouldn’t recommend it to younger readers. I think fans of Graceling by Kristin Cashore, Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Lani Taylor, and The Iron King by Julia Kagawa would enjoy this book. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!

Thanks to Sherry for her review!
